Deejay Kriel (* 20th June 1995 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) is a South African boxer in the straw weight and current world champion of the organization International Boxing Federation (IBF short).

Professional career

The left wingman lost his professional debut in 2014 in his native Johannesburg against his compatriot Colin Tloubatla over four rounds by a unanimous judge's decision.

In the summer of 2017 he fought against Dexter Alimento for the vacant international belt of the World Boxing Council (WBC for short) and won over 12 rounds unanimously on points. The following year he defended this title against Xolisa Magusha also by unanimous decision.

On February 16, 2019, Kriel was allowed to compete against the Mexican Carlos Licona for his IBF world title at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles . Kriel won by classic knockout in the 12th round and thus captured the title.
