Dehn or von Daehne is the family name of a Baltic-Dutch noble family. The founder of this family came from Riga , his descendants later settled in the Batavian Republic , the later Kingdom of Holland .

history

The progenitor of this family was the carpenter Martin Daehne, who lived in Riga and was mentioned in Riga from 1716 to 1720 as an elder man . It is not known whether there is a family connection with the Dehns from the Baltic States . His grandson Johann Christoph Wilhelm von Daehne (1744–1803) was in the service of the Duke of Braunschweig and was raised to the imperial nobility on June 1, 1792 by Elector Friedrich August of Saxony (1750–1827) . Johann Christoph moved to the Batavian Republic and became a resident there. Two of his sons were accepted into the Dutch nobility on April 26, 1822, the son of the second son moved back to Braunschweig, the line ended in 1932 with Wilhelm Friedrich von Daehne in the male line.
