Demar Phillips (born September 23, 1983 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican football player.
Life
Phillips attended Seaforth High School and played for Bull Bay FC in his youth before moving to the Jamaican capital club Waterhouse FC .
Club career
Phillips began his professional career in 2003 with the Jamaican first division club Waterhouse FC. With Waterhouse he won the Jamaican championship in the 2005/06 season. He was active there until 2007, for the 2007/08 season he then moved to the English club Stoke City , which made it to the Premier League that season . Phillips also played for Stoke City in 2008/09, but only made four appearances there in the two years, two of them in cup games. In 2009 he moved to Ålesunds Fotballklubb in Norway .
In Phillips' first year for Ålesunds FK, the club reached the Norwegian Cup final , which was played on November 8, 2009 at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. Phillips came on as a substitute for Trond Fredriksen in overtime in the 102nd minute when the score was 2-1 . After Ålesund equalized in the 115th minute, it was a penalty shoot-out . Phillips converted one of the penalties, Aalesunds FK won the game (2: 2 aet; 5: 4 p. E.) and Phillips was the Norwegian Cup winner.
With Ålesund he has been playing in the Tippeligaen , the highest Norwegian league, since 2009 and made 38 appearances there until 2010, in which he scored three goals. On August 20, 2011, he extended his contract with Ålesunds FK until 2014.
National team
For the Jamaican national soccer team Phillips has been playing since 2006. He was a member of the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009 squad and was used in all three games of the group stage, which Jamaica did not get beyond at the tournament. He is also playing for his home country at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2011 . With his two goals in the 2-0 win against Guatemala on June 10, 2011, he secured his team a place in the quarter-finals.
So far he has scored 8 goals in a total of 46 appearances for the Jamaican national team.
