Demba Traoré (born August 29, 1972 in Markala ) is a Malian politician and lawyer. He is chairman of the Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational, Transparty (NRPTT) . He is also a board member of the NGO Hands off Cain , a sub-organization of the Radical Party.

Life

Traoré has been a member of the Radical Party since 2003. On December 11, 2011, he was elected chairman of the 39th Congress of the Radical Party (NRPTT) in Rome . Members and personalities from 45 countries took part in the congress, including Bernard Kouchner and Joschka Fischer (former foreign ministers in France and Germany, respectively). Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata , Italian Foreign Minister, addressed the Congress.

Traoré has worked as a lawyer since 1995, from 2002 to 2007 he was a member of the National Assembly of Mali and also chairman of the parliamentary committee Commission des lois, de la législation, de la justice et des institutions de la République . He was also a judge of the Mali Supreme Court. At the invitation of the British government, he took part in an exchange and working visit to Great Britain in February 2003, where he attended working sessions in the House of Commons , at DID and in the representations of the International Save The Children Alliance , Islamic Relief Worldwide and Christian Aid participated. In May 2003 he became a member of the Assemblée parlementaire de la francophonie (APF) . In April 2004 he took part in the APF meeting in Vientian ( Laos ), in July 2004 at the 30th General Assembly in Charlottetown ( Canada ) and the 32nd General Assembly in Rabat ( Morocco ).

Traoré is involved in many transnational issues, in particular and at the forefront of the fight against the death penalty, against genital mutilation and the transnationalization of law. In December 2003 he took part in an international colloquium on the International Criminal Court in Ouagadougou ( Burkina Faso ).

As part of the initiative for the official abolition of the death penalty in Mali, Traoré organized a visit to Bamako by members of the Radical Party, Marco Pannella and Elizabetta Zamparutti . At the invitation of the United States Department of State , he made a state visit to the United States in September / October 2006, with working sessions in the Capitol with US Senators and MPs, working sessions in the Supreme Court and working visits to some US states such as Wisconsin , South Carolina and Oregon . In 2008, during an international meeting in Brussels (December 11th to 13th) he was elected to the board of the NGO Hands off Cain  - partner of the Radical Party (NRPTT) - which advocates a worldwide moratorium on the death penalty the goal of the complete abolition of the same.

Currently Traoré is on the part of the board of the Union for the Republic and Democracy (URD), on whose behalf he he 2009 in VI. District of the city of Bamako was chosen, responsible for relations with the public administration. Between March 7th and 8th 2012 he was received by the highest representatives of Italy in Rome. On March 7, he met President Giorgio Napolitano and Senate President Renato Schifani in the Senate of the Italian Republic, accompanied by the Vice-President of the Senate, Emma Bonino , and Senator Marco Perduca . The next morning, Demba Traoré was received by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Gianfranco Fini , with Maurizio Turco (Radical Party Treasurer), Marco Pannella and Emma Bonino . “The meeting was an institutional duty, but also very welcome. And it is important that there is a strong emphasis on civil rights on the part of the Radical Party, not only at national and European, but also at international level, ”Fini said after the meeting.

Demba Traoré loves sports (soccer, handball, basketball, kung fu). On February 4, 2012, he sponsored the URD Cup as a party executive in Bougoni County in the village of Bougoula. Since 2005 he has been First Vice President of the Malian Federation of Kung Fu. Traoré is a Muslim, married and has four children.
