Dembo Jobarteh

Dembo Jobarteh (born June 7, 1976 in Kaiai ; † March 15, 2008 in Serekunda - Faji Kunda ) was a musician and Jeli from Gambia. He played the West African instrument Kora , a 21-string bridge harp. Later he, a nephew of Amadou Bansang Jobarteh , learned to play a djembé and balafon .

In 2001 he became director of the Gambian "Griot School of Music and Dance" in Serrekunda . He died of chronic malaria in March 2008 .
