School Days ( Japanese ス ク ー ル デ イ ズ , Sukūru Deizu , eng. "School Days") is an eroge - Ren'ai adventure from 0verflow .

While most Japanese adventures consist largely of still images, School Days is fully animated, 70 minutes of which are in the form of videos. The game has 20 endings (25 in the PS2 version and 21 in the HQ version), and is particularly known for the cruelty of the bad endings that can occur. a. very drastically show a murder or suicide .

This was followed in 2005 by three light novels by Harvest Novels, several manga, an anime by TNK and the radio play CD School Days Original Drama CD Vol. 1: Hi-mi-tsu no Hanazono ( School Days オ リ ジ ナ ル ド ラ マ CD Vol.1 ヒ ・ ミ・ ツ の 花園 , German "Secret Flower Garden").

The offshoots Summer Days and Cross Days , released in 2006 and 2010, are prequels and spin-offs for School Days with the same characters, but they follow an independent plot.

Initial act

At the beginning, the character Makoto Itō ( 伊藤 誠 , Itō Makoto ) is introduced, who secretly takes a photo of a classmate from the parallel class with his mobile phone on the train on the way to school. The shy girl is Kotonoha Katsura ( 桂 言葉 , Katsura Kotonoha ). Arriving in the classroom, the girl Sekai Saionji ( 西 園 寺 世界 , Sekai Saionji ) becomes her next-door neighbor thanks to a new seating plan , who immediately discovers the background image. She then sets herself the goal of bringing the two together. When Sekai finally succeeds in getting Makoto and Kotonoha to meet, however, she realizes that she, too, has deeper feelings for him. In the late afternoon, Sekai and Makoto are at the train station. Sekai waits for her train home while Makoto waits for Kotonoha. She tells him how to thank her for her help. Just before her train leaves the station, she kisses him and cries on the way home. The player is now confronted with this initial act.

Anime

Although the game itself is designed like an anime, another anime was produced by TNK for television, which consists of twelve episodes. The first episode aired shortly after midnight on July 4, 2007 , on TV Kanagawa on the previous television day. The following day, Chiba TV and TV Aichi followed suit , as did TV Saitama and TV Osaka, each with a one-day offset . It could be received nationwide via AT-X from July 12th.

Since an accident occurred shortly before the broadcast of this last episode in Japan, in which a 16-year-old girl killed her father with an ax, most television companies did not broadcast it and replaced it with a 30-minute video with landscape footage. There were also recordings of a ship in this video. Only the broadcaster AT-X sent it as planned on September 27, 2007. As a follow-up reaction to this replacement, Nice Boat was often used as a term for failures of any kind and, through constant use in caricatures and parodies, as a running gag to the Internet meme . The Yomiuri Shimbun reported that Nice Boat was the tenth most searched search term on Yahoo! in the week from September 17th to 23rd. Japan was.

The initial plot here corresponds to that of the underlying game and is continuously closely tied to it. Since the game has several storylines, a selection was made and the story of the anime was not included, but makes use of many plot elements. While the game has good endings, it is more known for its bloody bad ones. This was also taken up in the anime and it ends with a catastrophe in the last episode.
