Demented Are Go (also: Demented Are Go! Or DAG ) is a British psychobilly band.
Band history
The exact year the band was founded is not known; however, it is believed that the band formed in 1982. In any case, Demented Are Go are part of the first wave of psychobilly bands after this genre was launched in the UK by the Meteors in the early 1980s . The head of the band since it was founded has been front man Mark Philips, whose eye-catching stage outfits are his trademark. The rest of the group's composition has been subject to high fluctuation over the years.
Demented Are Go have released a variety of studio and live albums to date and are still active today despite a few breakups and subsequent reunions.
Side projects with the participation of Demented Are Go members were the Demon Teds in the 1980s, which released the album "The Day The Earth Spat Blood"; and in the 1990s the band Demented Scumcats, who released a self-titled mini-CD and the album "Splatter Baby". In 2010, singer “Sparky” Philips recorded the country and western ballad My Love For Evermore with the Swiss rockabilly band Hillbilly Moon Explosion - a co-production that was also released as a music clip.
The English neo-Nazi Ian Stuart Donaldson claimed in an interview that Graeme Grant from Demented Are Go was involved in the first album of his Klansmen project. Demented Are Go themselves deny participation in the project. Sparky Philips comment: "Psychobilly is definitely not fascist!"
