Dementi was a German alternative rock band founded in 1997 .

history

The first album Aphorisms was self-produced in 1998. In the next few years, Dementi took part quite successfully in a number of young talent competitions - for example, Dementi reached 11th place in the Battle of the Bands by Sonic Seducer magazine , but without achieving the big breakthrough. In 2000, Dementi recorded the single Jenseits der Angst in the Zobel Audio Studio with Stephan Zobeley (band from Herbert Grönemeyer ) and in the same year the album Schweigen in self-production .

The studio recordings gave Dementi the opportunity to play as the opening act for Umbra et Imago and thus become better known nationwide. In 2001 Dementi reached 3rd place at the Battle of the Bands , in 2002 1st place at the Annaberg-Buchholz Newcomer Prize and 4th place in the final for the Thuringia Grammy 2002 . In the Omp Studios the single was The river was added, the denial to a recording contract with RE-POP helped. In 2003 the album Zweigefühl, produced by Tobias Hahn ( Janus ), was released and Dementi finally won the Battle of the Bands . An appearance at the 12th Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, further festival appearances and support acts followed. A video for the song I feel nothing from the album Zweigefühl appeared on the Sonic Seducer sampler Cold Hands Seduction 36 .

The album For today enough was recorded in the newly founded studio. In 2007, the piece One Breath was recorded together with Amber and published on the MySpace page. September 2007 with the piece Hope Dies Last a collaboration between Dementi and Painbastard was released on the album Borderline . In October 2007 Smalun left the band and was replaced by Steffen Knop.

In April 2008, Dementi released the first two albums, Zweiefühl and Für heute enough, under a Creative Commons license (permission for free reproduction, without permission for editing and commercial use, with the obligation to name and maintain the license).

In 2009 the current album Wer bettelt is not fed was released . For the first time with Amber and RIG other artists appear on a denial album. Painbastard also remixed one of the songs. After an unplugged EP in 2010, the band quietly split up in 2012 for reasons that were not explained in detail.

style

Denials played hard electronic rock in the style of Megaherz . The powerful guitar and drum sound was often complemented by keyboard arrangements.

Special emphasis was placed on the rather harsh lyrics that deal with love, sex and despair. The lyrics are what is often seen as the most prominent feature of the band.
