Den Atelier is a night club in Luxembourg City that is known for numerous rock concerts by international bands.

history

The idea for a nightclub arose out of necessity in the early 90s : There was no place in Luxembourg for international bands to perform live and so they rarely performed in Luxembourg. The founders acquired a former Renault auto repair shop in the Hollerich district , which also gave the club its name: the Atelier (workshop).

The club opened on October 23, 1995. On November 1, 1995, Jimmy Somerville gave the first live concert. Today the Atelier is one of the most important venues for rock concerts in the entire Greater Region .

various

The focus of the atelier is the organization of rock , alternative and indie concerts. Due to the small size of the concert hall (seats for only about 1000 people), the concerts have a very special atmosphere.

The studio in the Rockhal in Esch / Alzette organizes larger concerts , where there is space for up to 10,000 spectators.

In addition, the Atelier has been organizing the Rock-A-Field Festival in Roeser in the south of Luxembourg every year since 2006 , a one-day festival until 2011 with a maximum of 18,000 spectators. In 2012 and 2013 the festival took place over two days and since 2014 three days. The headliners were Placebo in 2006 , The Killers and Queens of the Stone Age in 2007, UNKLE in 2008 , Kings of Leon in 2009 , The Prodigy in 2010 and Arcade Fire in 2011 . Since 2008 the bands have been playing alternately on two different stages. This made it possible for many local bands to get to know each other on the rock-a-field.

The studio can also be rented. Various student associations regularly organize parties in the studio.
