The Deneb was a surveying and wreck search ship of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency .
history
The ship was built under construction number 1322 at the Schlichting shipyard in Lübeck-Travemünde and put into service in 1962 as Wega by the then German Hydrographic Institute. It had a wooden hull with aluminum superstructures.
In 1991 the ship was stationed in Rostock under its new name Deneb . The ship was used in the German Bight and the western Baltic Sea and examined around 2500 wrecks and other underwater obstacles. It covered around 150,000 nautical miles in the process.
Technical specifications
The ship was powered by a Deutz diesel engine with an output of 206 kW . The engine worked via a gearbox on a controllable pitch propeller . The ship reached a speed of up to 10.5 kn .
Several generators were installed for the power supply on board .
