Denis Bouriakov

Denis Wiktoriowitsch Bouriakov (born October 25, 1981 in Simferopol ) is a Russian flautist.

Life

Denis Bouriakov came to the Central Music School in Moscow at the age of 10 and subsequently toured around 20 countries as a flutist child prodigy. At the age of 18 he began studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London with William Bennett . In 2001 he graduated with the highest honors and received a teaching scholarship from the Academy for the following year. In 2006 he was appointed Associate of the Royal Academy. During his time in London, Bouriakov made guest appearances as principal flutist with the Philharmonia of London , the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the Leeds Opera North and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony . From 2005 to 2008 he was the solo flutist withTampere Philharmonic Orchestra and with the Barcelona Symphony in 2008 before moving to the Metropolitan Opera in 2009. Bouriakov has been principal flutist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 2015 .

Denis Bouriakov has won a number of prestigious competitions, including the ARD music competition , Concours de flûte Jean-Pierre Rampal , Prager Frühling and the Kobe International Flute Competition .

Bouriakov gives concerts all over the world, gives master classes and also transcribes music for his instrument. For example, recordings of violin concertos by Jean Sibelius and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy with him as a soloist are available on CD .
