Denis Lapiere (born August 8, 1958 in Namur , Belgium ) is a Belgian comic book author .

Live and act

Denis Lapière lives near Liège with his wife and three children . After studying sociology in Louvain-La-Neuve , he founded a comic book store in Charleroi in the 1980s . Through this activity he familiarized himself with the comics scene and made first contacts with comic artists. Through an acquaintance with the comic artist Will , he met his son Eric Maltaite , who implemented his first scenarios in drawings and published them in Spirou magazine.

In 1987 he brought out Mono Jim in L'Echo de Savannes - also with Eric Maltaite as a draftsman . Over the next few years he wrote scenarios for a large number of authors covering the entire spectrum of contemporary comics from one shots for adults to humorous series for children, including Peter Pluut ( Jerry et Line ), Jean-Philippe Stassen ( Bahamas , Bullwhite ), Olivier Wozniak ( Alice et Léopold ), Michel Constant ( Mauro Caldi ) and Magda ( Charly ). In 1991 he and Alain Sikorski took over the classic detective series Tif et Tondu (English: Harry and Platte ) by Will and Stephen Desberg . After the final story of Tif and Tondu , Lapière and Sikorski continued their work in the detective genre with the series La Clé du Mystère (2000).

Lapière brought out Le Bar du Vieux Français for the Dupuis collection Aire Libre in 1992 with the draftsman Jean-Philippe Stassen . The Ludo youth series was created for Spirou in collaboration with Pierre Bailly and Vincent Mathy .

In the following years he realized albums with Gilles Mezzomo ( Luka , 1996), Chauzy , ( Clara , 1999), Rubén Pellejero ( Un Peu de Fumée Bleue , 2000) and Christian Durieux ( Oscar ). Further albums were released under pseudonyms that have not yet been disclosed by the author (known for example is "Delaney").

Lapière, still little known in Germany, has won several prizes for his work, including the comic prize at the Durbuy Festival in 1992 and the “Coup de Cœur” in Angoulême (1993) both for Le Bar du Vieux Français . In 1996, La Saison des Anguilles (drawn by Pierre Bailly) was awarded at the Charleroi Festival .
