Denis Valerjewitsch Sergejew ( Russian Денис Валерьевич Сергеев ; born August 24, 1983 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Sauralje Kurgan in the Vysschaja Hockey League .

Career

Denis Sergejew started his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Dynamo Moscow . From there he moved to the Canadian Junior League Western Hockey League , in which he was active from 2001 to 2003 for the Calgary Hitmen and Swift Current Broncos . Then the winger returned to Russia and played in the 2003/04 season for Olimpija Kirovo-Chepetsk in the Vysschaya League , the second Russian division.

The following season he moved to Vitjas Chekhov within the second division , with whom he immediately rose to the Super League. He contributed to this success with five goals and two assists in 34 games. With Vitjas, the right-handed shooter initially appeared for three years in the Super League and from the 2008/09 season for three years in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . In October 2011 he was committed by his KHL league rival Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk .
