Denise Voita

Denise Voïta (born March 14, 1928 in Marsens ; † April 11, 2008 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss painter and graphic artist .

Life

Denise Voïta, whose mother came from Geneva and whose father came from Ukraine, worked as an artist after attending the École cantonale de dessin et d'arts appliqués (School of Applied Arts) in Lausanne . At first she worked with wallpaper, mosaic, screen printing or wall painting . She was best known for her carpet work and after several grants from 1966 also as a lithographer.

The central motif of her abstract and symbolic works were angels as well as clouds, waves and flames. Voïta has received several awards, including the 2002 Grand Prix des Beaux-Arts of the Canton of Vaud, endowed with 100,000 Swiss francs .
