Deniz Çelik (politician)
Deniz Çelik (born November 3, 1978 in Hamburg - Barmbek ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and Vice President of the Hamburg Parliament .
Life
Çelik grew up in Barmbek, attended Emil-Krause-Gymnasium and studied political science at the University of Hamburg .
Celik has been a member of the Left since 2008. From May 2014 to February 2015 he held a mandate in the Hamburg-Nord district assembly . In the state election in Hamburg in 2015 he was elected to the state parliament in the constituency of Barmbek-Uhlenhorst-Dulsberg . There he is a member of the health and constitutional committees and a deputy member of the European committee. He is also deputy parliamentary group leader, health policy spokesman for the parliamentary group and trade union policy spokesman.
In his political work he advocates adequate staffing in Hamburg hospitals and nursing homes. He is of the opinion that medical care and nursing is part of a public mandate and should not be subject to private profit interests. He supports the Hamburg alliance for more hospital staff .
On February 23, 2020, Celik again succeeded in entering the Hamburg parliament . There he was elected Vice President on April 1, 2020.
