Memorial to the fallen soldiers of the First World War Hofstetten (Upper Bavaria)

The memorial for those who fell in World War I in Hofstetten , a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech , hangs in the Catholic parish church of St. Michael. The war memorial belongs as part of the church facilities to the protected monuments in Bavaria.

The memorial to the fallen of the First World War hanging in the anteroom of the church is a baroque wall altar with twisted pairs of columns. The signed oil painting of a dead soldier as a martyr in the arms of Christ illustrates the symbolism of the biblical quote “ Be faithful to death, so I will give you the crown of life! “( Rev 1,18  LUT ). Anton Niedermaier from Hohenbrunn near Munich painted it in 1919.
