The monument to the soldiers of the 1st Red Cavalry Army ( Russian: Памятник бойцам Первой конной армии ) near Olesko was a memorial to the soldiers of the 1st Red Cavalry Army who fought under Semyon Mikhailovich Budjonny in the Russian Civil War.

It was demolished in 2016 as part of decommunization in Ukraine .

The 27-meter monument placed two riders of the cavalry shows, one of which blows into a trumpet.

The sculptor of the monument, inaugurated on December 21, 1975, was the professor and rector of the Lviv Art Institute Valentyn Nasarowytsch Boryssenko and the architect was Anatoly Dmytrowytsch Konsulov .

Location

The monument to the first Soviet cavalry army was located on a hill 3 kilometers east of the urban-type Olesko settlement in Lviv Oblast near the M 06 / E 40 highway .

In the summer of 1920, the remains of soldiers of the 1st Red Cavalry Army who fell in the region in battle with the white army were buried at the site .
