List of monuments of the state of Brandenburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The monument list of the state of Brandenburg is the official public directory of the monuments in the state of Brandenburg . It is run by the Brandenburg State Office for Monument Preservation and the State Archaeological Museum.

The legal basis for the list of monuments is § 3 of the law on the protection and maintenance of monuments in the state of Brandenburg ("Monument Protection Act") of May 24, 2004. Before the law came into force, the list was kept by the lower monument protection authorities of the districts and independent cities. Since then, the list has been compiled on the basis of the monument registers handed over by the lower monument protection authorities of the districts and independent cities as well as the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg as a separate lower monument protection authority.

According to the Monument Protection Act, the list of monuments with the name of the monument and the information on the location must be published in the Brandenburg Official Gazette. The protection of the monuments does not depend on the entry in the list of monuments. Archaeological monuments and movable monuments whose protection would be jeopardized by publication are not published. The inventory of a monument is also protected by being placed under protection if it forms a unit of monument value with the monument. The inclusion in the list of monuments takes place ex officio; it is not an administrative act. Insofar as a monument has been entered in the list of monuments due to the amended Brandenburg Monument Protection Act, those authorized to dispose of it can have its status as a monument determined by an administrative act.

The list of monuments is subdivided into independent cities and districts and each divided into three sections:

A) soil monuments (arranged alphabetically according to landmarks),
B) monument areas protected by statutes (municipal monument area statutes ),
C) Monuments ( architectural monuments , garden monuments and technical monuments ), arranged alphabetically by place and address.

Monuments managed by the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg are marked with the addition of the SPSG.

The four independent cities and 14 districts are Barnim district, Dahme-Spreewald district, Elbe-Elster district, Havelland district, Märkisch-Oderland district, Oberhavel district, Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, Oder-Spree district, Ostprignitz-Ruppin district, Potsdam- Mittelmark, district of Prignitz, district of Spree-Neisse, district of Teltow-Fläming, district of Uckermark, city of Brandenburg an der Havel, city of Cottbus, city of Frankfurt (Oder) and city of Potsdam.
