Monument zone Hauptstrasse (Balesfeld)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hauptstrasse monument zone in Balesfeld , a municipality in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate , comprises the buildings Hauptstrasse 2 to 6 and 8, Bergstrasse 1 and 3, and Friedhofstrasse 1.

The existing, closed building stock, designated as a monument zone , dates from the first half of the 19th century. It is located south of the listed bridge over the Weiherbach .

On the western side of the street are the buildings of the inn and former post office, built in 1806 (Hauptstrasse 3, also protected as a single monument), to the north of it the cross-building at Friedhofstrasse 1 and a single residential building (Hauptstrasse 5), whose farm buildings have recently had to give way to a single-family house.

On the eastern side of the street and on Bergstraße there are two long, eaves-standing farmsteads that meet on the street corner. The oldest building is the residential building at Hauptstrasse 6 (also protected as an individual monument) from 1806.

The house at Bergstrasse 1 originally belonged as a barn to the farmhouse at Hauptstrasse 8 and was only converted into a residential building around 1900.

The door frame of Bergstrasse 3 with a hinge frame is marked with the year 1854 or 1834 in the lintel .

The only gable-free building on Hauptstrasse 2, a single-storey residential stable , was replaced in 1986 by a new building of the same volume.

In front of the houses, the old courtyard paving is still partially preserved, especially on Hauptstraße 4.
