Dennis Altman

Dennis Altman (born August 16, 1943 ) is an Australian political scientist and author .

Life

After finishing school, Altman studied history and political science at Cornell University in Ithaca , New York, in the 1960s . After finishing his studies, Altman returned to Australia in 1969 and taught political science at the University of Sydney . In 1971 he published his first book entitled Homosexual: oppression and liberation . In 1985 Altman moved to La Trobe University in Melbourne , where he got a job as a professor. Altman published other works, including the book Global sex in 2001 .

In addition to his professional and literary work, Altman volunteers in various organizations, such as the Australian National Council on AIDS and the AIDS Society of Asia and the Pacific , of which he is chairman (as of 2005).
