Special D. (born September 16, 1980 in Hamburg ; actually Dennis Horstmann ; also published as Punk Buster ) is a German DJ .

Life

Horstmann's musical training began at the age of 13 with piano and keyboard lessons. Later he took over the management of the recording studio of his secondary school and played as a guitarist and keyboard player in the school band.

In 2000 he published the trance track Trancegiving with Tobi Bosch under the pseudonym DJ Awaline . Further tracks appeared under the pseudonym SpeakerFreakz . At the same time, Horstmann worked as a resident DJ in the Hamburg Cave Club .

Special D.'s first commercially released single was Come with Me , a hands-up version of the Nena hit Nur dreamed , in March 2003 . According to Horstmann, it should have been produced in just two days. The accompanying music video was shot in I-Punkt Skateland, not far from Horstmann's record company. With the single he immediately reached top positions in various European charts. He also won the most important music award in the Netherlands in 2003 , the TMF Award for best international dance act.

In 2004, together with Andy Richter, he published the titles Suck My Dick , We Need Bass and Pimp My Stereo under the pseudonym Dickheadz , which, however, had no chart successes . However, Suck My Dick was used in a club scene in the movie Crank 2: High Voltage .

In 2005 he released the single Here I Am , again a cover version of a Nena hit. In this case, 99 hands-up style balloons . However, his performances are often quite tough, as his predilection for hardstyle is known in the scene .

Dennis Horstmann was resident DJ in the New Bambu discotheque in Neustadt (Schleswig-Holstein). From October 2010 he was broadcast every Tuesday from 10:00 p.m. to midnight for a year on the Internet radio station Technobase.fm with his program Deelicious . He ended his broadcast in October 2011 for reasons unknown.

As part of his show Deelicious , Horstmann made himself available for auction on eBay in January 2009 for an appearance on the eBay campaign platform under the motto Special D. & friends . The proceeds went to the German Children's Cancer Foundation.

In addition to his music career, Horstmann has been active in the media industry since 1998. He is the founder and owner of the Hamburg film production company Juice Media.
