TechnoBase.FM is a German internet radio and the oldest and highest audience member of the We-aRe-oNe family, which also includes HouseTime.FM, HardBase.FM, TranceBase.FM, CoreTime.FM, ClubTime.FM and TeaTime.FM .

It serves a niche in electronic dance music best known as hands up . The station reaches around 2.8 million listeners per month with a duty cycle of more than five minutes. According to the IVW, the associated website is visited around 2 million times a month.

In the last few years, especially from 2015 onwards, there has been a significant decline in the audience and, as of 2018, there is now hardly more than 2000 active listeners on the stream with the highest ratings, TechnoBase.FM. This can be explained by the decline in activity on the part of the "resident DJs", which is why the automatic playlist is increasingly prevalent and the sometimes outdated and error-prone web presence. In the meantime the community is hardly active any more, the forum is orphaned and largely unmoderated. In its prime, TechnoBase.FM had up to 5,000 active listeners a day, mainly in the evening, and up to almost 13,000 listeners on weekends with strong audience ratings. Summarized on all channels, there are currently rarely more than 3500 active listeners.

Emergence

The TechnoBase.FM web radio was opened on January 1st, 2005 by Stefan Ulber (also known as DJ G4bby) and Claus Maas (Clausel) under the motto “We aRe oNe” . The goal: to offer all fans of electronic music a common platform. In addition to the web radio itself, the website offers news, event tips, release previews, interviews and a picture gallery. This offer is currently used interactively by around 500,000 registered members.

Until 2008, the various styles of electronic dance music were broadcast on TechnoBase.FM, including house , hardstyle and trance . These styles were spun off into the newly founded subsidiary radios "HouseTime.FM", "HardBase.FM" and "TranceBase.FM" in the first half of 2008. At the beginning of 2009, the hardcore techno sub-style from HardBase.FM was spun off into the fifth station of the “We aRe oNe Community” with the name “CoreTime.FM”. In September 2011 the sixth subsidiary channel, “ClubTime.FM” went online. The common slogan remained "We aRe oNe" and the stations have since been referred to as "stations of the We-aRe-oNe family".

All channels broadcast around the clock and together reach up to around 20,000 listeners at the same time. Around 200 DJs broadcast a regular program. During off-peak hours, an automatic playlist takes over the playback of the DJs' sets.

Origin of the name

Because almost all styles of music related to electronic dance music were initially played on TechnoBase, a common basis was to be created with the popular term techno as an umbrella term for electronic dance music . “TechnoBase” was born quickly. The ending “.FM” was added based on VHF as a symbol for the medium “radio”.

The compilation

The compilation series "TechnoBase.FM - We aRe oNe" has been published regularly by ZYX Music since January 2010 . The CDs are structured in a similar way to the station's program, consist of hands-up music and contain DJ mixes from alternating artists from the electronic music scene and from residents of the radio. The sampler has been on three CDs since the tenth edition; digital sales also began with the tenth edition. With the fifteenth edition, the compilation will appear quarterly.

In 2009 TechnoBase.FM and HardBase.FM were awarded the online star audience award. In the years 2007–2015 the TechnoBase.FM website was named "Website of the Year" in the "Entertainment" and "Media" category.
