Denny Cordell

Denny Cordell (* 1943 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ; † February 18, 1995 in Dublin , Ireland) was a British music producer and horse breeder .

Life

Cordell grew up in England. At the age of 21 he met Chris Blackwell , who was building his Island Records label . For him he worked as a producer. After he started, with the Moody Blues to work more closely, he left Iceland and started as a producer independently . In the 1960s and 1970s he worked with well-known bands and musicians such as The Move , Georgie Fame , Procol Harum (whose A Whiter Shade of Pale he produced in April 1967), Manfred Mann and Joe Cocker ( With a little help from my friends ) . Nik Cohn described him as the most successful new English producer since Mickie Most in 1969 . He is considered to be the discoverer of producer Tony Visconti . In the 1980s he turned to his second area of ​​interest, horse racing. In the 1990s he worked again as a record producer for Iceland, including for the cranberries .
