Denny Crum
Denzil E. "Denny" Crum (born March 5, 1937 in San Fernando , California ) is a retired American basketball coach .
Crum began his coaching career as an assistant coach to John Wooden at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
He coached the University of Louisville team between 1971 and 2001 . In 1980 and 1986 he led the team to the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship . On January 7, 1993 he achieved his 500th victory, only Leon Barmore was faster in his career. With an overall record of 675-295 victories as a college coach, he resigned on March 2, 2001.
He has been a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame since March 9, 1994 .
