Denys Hay
Denys Hay (born August 29, 1915 in Newcastle upon Tyne ; † June 14, 1994 ) was a British historian who dealt mainly with the Italian Renaissance and its impact on Europe. He was Professor of Medieval History at the University of Edinburgh .
Hay studied in Oxford and was a lecturer in Edinburgh from 1945 . In 1970 he was elected a member ( Fellow ) of the British Academy . In 1974 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 1977 he was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh .
He was co-editor of the first volume of the New Cambridge Modern History .
