Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs
The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs ( FaHCSIA ) (German: Ministry of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs ) was a Ministry of the Commonwealth of Australia . The main administrative building was in the south of Canberra in the suburb of Greenway . It was founded in 2007 and dissolved in 2013.
Duties and Office Holders
The Ministry's task was to develop and implement a social policy for Australian society. The FaHCSIA's Office of Indigenous Policy Coordination for Aborigines is an important division of this ministry.

- The Minister for Social Housing and Homelessness is Mark Arbib
- Minister for the Status of Women is Kate Ellis
- Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Carers is Senator Jan McLucas
- Parliamentary Secretary for Community Services is Julie Collins
Programs
The ministry offered support and / or programs for the following target groups:
- Families and children
- Students and young people
- Disabled person
- People in need of care
- Old people
- Homeless or people at risk of homelessness
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
- Gambling addicts and drug addicts
- Social worker
Furthermore, it developed concepts for equal rights for women in its own ministry.
