Blažim depot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Blažim Depot (also known as the Blažim hoard ) is a depot find from the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Blažim in Ústecký kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the South Bohemian Museum in Budweis .

Find history

The depot was discovered in 1887 during an excavation northeast of Blažim at a depth of 1 m in an ashy layer. About 80 m away from the site there was a settlement that can be assigned to either the Neolithic , the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture or the Late Bronze Age Knovíz culture . Both sites fell victim to lignite mining in the 1960s .

composition

The depot consists of nine bronze eyelet neck rings . A ceramic vessel and a pig's tooth were found next to him. The eyelet neck rings were originally all circular. Some are oval-shaped, although it is unclear whether this happened recently or before the laying down. Their weight is between 133 g and 212 g and their surfaces are slightly faceted .
