Domsen depot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Domsen depot (also known as the Domsen hoard ) is a depot find from the early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture . It was found near Domsen , a deserted area in what is now the municipality of Hohenmölsen in the Burgenland district ( Saxony-Anhalt ) and dates back to the Bronze Age level A1b.

Find history

The depot was discovered in 2013 during a preliminary archaeological investigation that had become necessary due to the expansion of the Profen opencast mine . A house floor plan of the Aunjetitz culture was discovered about 75 m south of the depot and 15 Aunjetitz graves to the west of it. The depot was recovered in the block and examined more closely in the restoration workshop of the State Office for Monument Preservation and Archeology Saxony-Anhalt in Halle (Saale) .

composition

When it was found, eight eyelet neck rings placed one above the other were initially visible from the depot , on which a ceramic vessel rested. At the bottom of the vessel was a necklace of bronze spiral rolls and amber - pearls . This was followed by six large studded rings , two arm spirals , two open arm rings , a marginal ridge ax , four Cyprian loop needles and several smaller, not more precisely definable bronze objects.
