Hradce depot
The Hradce Depot (also known as the Hradce hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Hradce in Jihočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates to between 1800 and 1600 BC. The depot is now in the South Bohemian Museum in Budweis .
Find history
The depot was discovered while leveling the ground for wood chopping at a depth of 0.3 m. There are contradicting information about the exact location. In the original find report a hill west of Hradce is given. Tilmann Vachta locates the place further south, namely west of Vrábče at an elevation called Třebiště .
composition
The depot consists of three largely identical marginal ridge axes . Two of these were transferred to the Budweiser Museum in 1889, the third initially remained in private ownership and finally also entered the museum in 1929. The axes have a widened cutting edge with a wide facet and a cut-out neck. The neck of an ax has recently broken off.
