The district of Pachía is located in the province of Tacna in the region of Tacna in the extreme southwest of Peru . The district has an area of 603.68 km². The 2017 census counted 2,062 residents. In 1993 the population was 2,073, in 2007 it was 1,945. The administrative seat of the district is the town of Pachía, 16 km northeast of the city of Tacna on the Río Caplina at an altitude of 1095 m .
The district lies on the edge of the coastal desert of southern Peru and extends in the northeast to the foothills of the Western Peruvian Cordillera . The district borders the Ciudad Nueva district in the west, the Tarata province in the northwest , the Palca in the east and the Calana and Pocollay districts in the south .
The district has existed since January 2, 1857.
