The district of Pocollay is located in the province of Tacna in the region of Tacna in the extreme southwest of Peru . The district has an area of ​​265.65 km². The 2017 census counted 18,627 residents. In 1993 the population was 10,445, in 2007 17,113. The administrative seat of the district is the suburb of Pocollay on the north-eastern outskirts of Tacna .

The Pocollay district extends over the foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The district borders in the north on the districts Calana and Pachía , in the northeast on the district Palca , in the southeast on the district Tacna , in the southwest on the district Coronel Gregorio Albarracín Lanchipa and in the west again on the district Tacna, here the city of Tacna, and to the Ciudad Nueva district .
