The Tacna District is located in the Tacna Province in the Tacna Region in the extreme southwest of Peru . The district has an area of ​​2407.18 km². The 2017 census counted 92,972 inhabitants. The seat of the district administration is the regional capital Tacna .

The Tacna District is located in the south of the Tacna Province. In the more recent past, parts of the original district area were detached and today form the independent districts Coronel Gregorio Albarracín Lanchipa (2001) and La Yarada Los Palos (2015). The district includes the city of Tacna and largely desert areas southwest and southeast of the city.
