Der Dom - Bücher deutscher Mystik was the title of a book series with texts on German mysticism that was published in 13 volumes by the Leipziger Insel Verlag between 1919 and 1927 .

Edition history

The edition of the series volumes was mostly 3,000 copies. The first editions were bound in red, sometimes also blue, paste paper in half-linen and half-parchment, Schulze-Maizier's Mystical Poetry from Seven Centuries also in blue paperback with a back label . For many titles there are also dust jackets with an island logo, series designation and advertising text for the issue, as well as slipcases with a title label. The series of books was kept available until the Second World War through reprints.

In the autumn of 1980 the series was reissued by Insel Verlag Frankfurt in facsimiles with a total print run of 1,200 copies. 100 copies were bound as a handwritten numbered special edition in half parchment. The normal edition again appeared in half linen. Both editions were delivered in a linen case.

Individual evidence

  1. In the last publisher's announcement during the Second World War, "The books of the Insel Verlag. Christmas 1940", all series volumes were partly in half-linen or half-parchment binding without specifying the edition (p. 27 f.).
  2. A linen edition with a dust jacket and slipcase is also known here.
  3. A linen edition of the first edition appeared with a changed title page and without the series name and year. In 1934 (8th thousand, linen) and 1938 (11th thousand, cardboard and linen without serial signet and semi-parchment) there were revised subsequent editions.
  4. A half-linen edition with a significantly expanded foreword appeared in 1922 in the 11th thousand.
  5. A second edition (6th thousand) appeared in 1922.
  6. A second edition (7,000) appeared in 1924.
