The Expander of Progress was a band from East Berlin and one of the most important representatives of the other bands in the GDR. As one of the first GDR underground bands, they dedicated themselves to the avant-garde and experimental music .

history

The band was founded in 1986 by Susanne Lehmann (later Binas), Eckehard Binas, Mario Persch and Uwe Baumgartner. With their musical orientation towards avant-garde and experimental music, they were one of the founders of these styles of music in the GDR. In 1988 and 1989, the Big Bang Horde Mensch and The Expander des Progress were released, two underground tapes, followed by a regular album called Ad Acta 1990. At the end of 1990 the attempt to continue working as a quartet under the name Four For Progress failed .

Susanne Binas-Preisendörfer later became professor for media and youth culture, Thomas Görsch played with Mutabor , Knorkator and Saat , Jörg Beilfuß founded Tom Terror & das Beil with Thomas Wagner . Stefan Schüler was also active as a bass player with Die Others , Norbert Grandl as well as Jörg Beilfuß as drummer with Teurer than ever . The latter also played for the successor to the Twitter machine, the Fabrik , and Grandl later for the Foyer des Arts . Eckehard Binas became President of the FH Potsdam in 2013 .
