It was produced by William Kahn-Film GmbH (Berlin). It is four acts in length . The censorship test took place in January 1917. The Berlin police issued a youth ban (No. 40160), the Munich police did not allow an announcement as a detective film (No. 24685, 24686, 24687, 24688). A first (test?) Demonstration took place in the Berlin Tauentzienpalast on January 12, 1917. The actual premiere on February 16, 1917 there.
