The green vampire is a 1918 German silent crime film with horror elements by William Kahn . Heinrich Peer plays the detective council house.

action

The well-known detective Kriminalrat Anheim is called to the Netherlands this time. The Ukermoor is supposed to be haunted. Some travelers have not returned from there. The superstitious villagers attribute this to the green vampire, who sprang from an old legend and who, according to the legend, thirsts for human blood. Rat Anheim is more than skeptical; he believes that a very earthly mastermind must be behind this ghost. After he has got to the bottom of things, he can arrest the steward of a nearby property as the creator of this horror figure.

Production notes

The green vampire was filmed shortly before the end of the First World War , passed censorship in October 1918 and was premiered in May 1919 in the Kant-Lichtspiele in Berlin. The four-act film was 1120 meters long. A youth ban has been issued. The version shown in Austria was around 1500 meters long.

This film, the eleventh of the Rat-Anheim series, which was also shown under the title The Usher Case , is considered to be one of the first productions in Germany to discover “vampirism” as a film theme.
