The Rooster is Dead is an interactive short film directed by Zoltan Spirandelli in 1988. The supporting film , by KurzFilmFreunden Köln e. V. called Evergreen, has won several awards ( German Film Critics' Prize ) and is a classic among film fans.

In the film, Zoltan Spirandelli appears as a celluloid figure in front of the big screen. He says that singing is beautiful and important and that most people actually like to sing. The problem is, they either don't have the opportunity or they don't dare. Therefore, he guides the cinema audience from the screen to sing the song The Rooster is dead in a three-part canon .

At the annual event "Kino auf der Burg" in Esslingen am Neckar , the film is traditionally shown in one evening (2003 with 3000 singers).

The film has also been shown in the Lichtburg cinema in Lemförde - Quernheim for many years . Every year on Good Friday it is shown there as a supporting film for the Blues Brothers cult night.
