The boy who no longer wanted to speak ( Dutch title: De jongen die niet meer praatte) is a Dutch-Kurdish film from 1996. It was directed by the Dutchman Ben Sombogaart . The screenplay is by Lou Brouwers and is based on the novel Memo is silent by the Dutch author Anke de Vries .
Short act
Mohamed, whom everyone calls Memo, is a 9-year-old Kurdish boy. He lives in Eastern Turkey with his little sister and mother. There he had a happy time and helped the postman distribute the letters. His father works in the Netherlands. War is looming in the area where Memo lives. His father decides to bring his family to the Netherlands. Memo doesn't want to, but nobody asked him. From then on, he decides not to speak anymore.
