The long stone is a menhir near Gonbach in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Location and description

The Lange Stein is located north of Gonbach on the edge of a forest directly on the road between Sippersfeld and Alsenbrück-Langmeil on hilly terrain. He gave the district "Am Langen Stein" its name, which has been documented since 1775 and forms the border between the towns of Gonbach, Sippersfeld and Langenmeil. 1.6 km east-southeast is the menhir of Sippersfeld , 1.7 km south-east is a burial mound field .

The menhir is made of sandstone and has a heavily weathered surface. It has a height of 90 cm, a width of 45 cm and a depth of 36 cm. The stone is irregularly shaped. Apparently a larger piece of the upper part has broken off. The emblem and the abbreviation of the Otterberg monastery are embossed on one flat side .
