The Lone Ranger - rider with the mask (in the original The Lone Ranger ) is an American animated Western - animated series . The series was originally broadcast with 26 episodes in two seasons between 1966 and 1968. Each episode contains three mini-episodes. In Germany, some of the mini episodes were broadcast separately.

The series is based on the character of the Lone Ranger and his Indian friend Tonto, who fight for justice in the Wild West. The figure was invented in 1933 by Fran Striker and George W. Trendle . The animated series followed a successful series of radio plays on the radio, the television series The Lone Ranger and movies.
The plot follows a child-friendly presentation and no direct reference to the original. The individual episodes are self-contained. Similar to the series Crazy Wild West , the genre is mixed in individual episodes with elements from other genres, such as science fiction or the supernatural such as magic. For example, the main characters meet Vikings , knights , witches , mad scientists , robots , toy soldiers and pirates .
