The Legend of the Lone Ranger ( English : The Legend of the Lone Ranger ) is an American western written by George B. Seitz Jr. from 1952 .

action

A group of Texas Rangers pursues the dreaded Cavendish gang. Unexpectedly, the rangers get help from the wounded scout Collins. However, this turns out to be a decoy for the bandits. He ambushes the rangers in the Valley of Death. After the rangers were gunned down by the Cavendish gang, Collins was also shot dead as an unwelcome witness by Butch Cavendish. Young ranger Reid survived the shooting, seriously injured. With the last of his strength he can save himself to the nearby river. As a result, he is not noticed by the also surviving Collins.

When the Indian Tonto rides into the valley, he discovers Reid. He recognizes in the injured ranger an old friend who saved his life as a child. Tonto nurses Reid. Tonto made a mask for his friend from the vest of his dead brother, the captain of the Rangers. Since Reid is the only surviving ranger, he calls himself Lone Ranger from now on . He swears to fight the crime and not kill anyone. Tonto, also without a family, wants to help him in the future. Collins, who was hiding, attacks the two. While trying to catch Collins alive, he falls to his death. Tonto buries the crime next to the rangers. When the Lone Ranger saves an injured horse from an attacking buffalo, this stallion becomes his future loyal companion Silver.

The Ranger and Tonto ride to see Jim Blaine, an old friend of Reid. They arrive at the ranch just as Butch Cavendish and a henchman shoot the judge who happens to be on the ranch. Butch is shot by Jim. The two criminals escape. Reid reveals his identity to his old friend. Jim has reports that Butch wants to infiltrate the city. One by one, all of Colby's major citizens were killed and replaced by Cavendish's men. Apparently they wanted to blame him for the judge's murder. The Lone Ranger tells Jim about his plan to fight for law. He asks him to make silver balls as a symbol of justice. Tonto is amazed that the Reid brothers and Jim share a silver mine. Tonto is assigned by Jim and the ranger to fetch Sheriff Taylor. To the sheriff, Jim proves his innocence in the death of the judge by pointing to his bullet, which sits in Cavendish's shoulder. At the sheriff's behest, Tonto is supposed to get reinforcements from town while the ranger and sheriff pursue Taylor Butch. Once in town, the deputies, who also belong to Butch's gang, chase the Indian out of town. One of the bandits tries to kill him on the way back. However, the attentive Tonto manages to take his attacker by surprise.

Taylor and the Ranger take the gang by surprise, while the captured Doc Drummond Butch removes the bullet. As reinforcement for the bandits approaches, Butch manages to get hold of a weapon in the turmoil and bring Drummond and Taylor into his power. Lone Ranger managed to escape and ran into Tonto. Together they free the Doc and Sheriff from the clutches of the gang. Ranger tells the apparently unconscious Butch about an approaching cavalry to support him. They leave the injured Butch behind so that he can contact his band and ride into town with them. When they arrive in Colby, the people who have taken the important positions of the shot citizens are arrested. With a group of law abiding citizens, the rest of the gang is overwhelmed. Ranger ultimately provides Butch personally and hands him over to the sheriff.
