Crazy Wild West (Original Title: The Wild Wild West ) is an American television series from the 1960s, which mixes science fiction and agent film elements with the western genre .
action
The action takes place in the USA in the second half of the 19th century . Daredevil James West and inventor Artemus Gordon are Secret Service undercover agents who carry out special assignments across the country on behalf of President Grant . Here you can fall back on an almost inexhaustible repertoire of weapons, equipment and disguises, which you keep in a special wagon of your train.
With this train, West and Gordon travel through the country to the respective locations and experience their adventures there, which have to do with attractive women, bizarre inventions and the villains to be fought. This exotic mix is what makes the series so special.
In the course of several episodes, the scientist Dr. Miguelito Loveless, who also has bizarre inventions and who always escapes the agents in the end.
In the context of the individual episodes, well-known actors appeared in supporting roles, including Richard Kiel , Wilhelm von Homburg , Robert Loggia , Lana Wood , Harold Gould and Beverly Garland .

For the broadcaster CBS, which commissioned the series, a total of 104 episodes were filmed in four seasons. These were broadcast on the same channel between 1965 and 1969. Furthermore, two television films based on the series were produced in 1979 and 1980, in which the aging Conrad and Martin took part again.
In Germany, Crazy Wild West has never been completely broadcast. The station Sat.1 broadcast 74 episodes between 1989 and 1991, Tele 5 in 1991 another long episode. Since then, the series has been repeated on pay TV.
Remake
A movie remake of the series was shot in 1999 under the direction of Barry Sonnenfeld under the title " Wild Wild West ". In the strip act Will Smith as James West and Kevin Kline as Artemus Gordon with. In addition to Salma Hayek in the female lead role, Kenneth Branagh plays the opponent.
