Michael Dunn (birth name: Gary Neil Michael Joseph Alvious A'Dunn Miller ) (born October 20, 1934 in Shattuck , Oklahoma , USA , † August 29, 1973 in London , England ) was an American film and theater actor .

Life

Dunn moved to Detroit , Michigan with his parents in 1938, when he was four years old . In 1940 the six-year-old was diagnosed with short stature with no prospect of recovery. When his elbows stiffened from the illness , he had to give up the dream of becoming a pianist . Dunn attended Detroit Redford High School until 1951 , during which time he sat on the student council and was the captain of the local cheerleading squad.

When he was 18 years old, Dunn began studying at the University of Michigan . After moving to the University of Florida , he gained his first experience as an actor , was again a cheerleader and worked as an editor for the student newspaper. In 1956 he completed his studies in political science. Dunn had a measured IQ of 178 throughout his life .

In order to stay afloat financially, Dunn began performing as a singer in bars , but always had the option of becoming an actor in the back of his mind. As a result, Dunn went to various jobs. He was a sports reporter , hotel detective and employee of a mission company .

It wasn't until he moved to New York City that he got his first engagements on stage, but not on Broadway . In 1963 he was for his performance in Edward Albee's drama " Ballad Of A Sad Cafe " for the Tony Award nominated. A year earlier he made his film debut in Saul Swimmer's drama Without Each Other . For the role of Carl bells in Stanley Kramer's " The Ship of Fools " ( "Ship of Fools" , 1965) he was nominated for the Oscar nominated as Best Supporting Actor.

Despite the good roles that Dunn got in the course of his career, he felt increasingly unstressed. Alcohol problems arose. A cirrhosis was the result. However, few were aware of the disease, one that largely assumed that Dunn suicide committed. However, he died of a heart attack in London . Michael Dunn, nearly 110 centimeters tall when he died, was only 38 years old.
