history

Founding years

The rest was founded in Los Angeles in 1999 by filmmaker and producer Philipp Taraz, drummer Markus Brox and graphic artist and composer Chaz Wallace. After various line-up changes, the band has consisted of songwriter, lead singer and guitarist Philipp Taraz, bassist Jeannine Max and drummer Emanuel Bisping since 2014. In 2009, the 4-song EP Der Rest was published by the company itself. At that time, the band's concept was mostly based on acoustic arrangements.

The table is set

The debut album The table is laid was recorded in 2010 and released in early 2011. In the course of this album release, numerous concerts followed throughout Germany. The album was received positively on the radio and in the music press.

Welcome to Café Elend

From the end of April 2011, the band went on tour in Germany again, during which the second album, which is currently in progress , was presented live in Café Elend . During this time, the live sound was also significantly changed when Philipp Taraz switched from the acoustic guitar on stage to an electric one. Since then the music has grown in brutality. Willkommen im Café Elend was published in December 2012 and was once again received very positively by the press.

10 songs for friends

The third album, entitled 10 Songs for Friends , was released in June 2014 by Soulfood . 10 songs for friends triggered a wave of positive reactions. Thomas Pilgrim wrote in Sonic Seducer “... and so it is still the rest of fighting uncomfortable truths and painful ego surrenders with a desolate punk rock vibe and ghostly songwriter desperation until the soul no longer burns - at least not anymore negative sense ”. The album was presented as part of an extensive tour of Germany.
