Der Ring is a music theater by Lutz Glandien that premiered on May 24, 2013 in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig . Philipp J. Neumann and Carl-Christian Elze wrote the libretto. The piece was inspired by the central plot motifs of Richard Wagner's " Ring des Nibelungen " and his music.

action

The students are excitedly waiting for the new school. The time has finally come, you enter the school. It is different from other schools: Here a new learning method is to be tried out. The ring is supposed to help. “But what is the ring?” The students ask the principal. The ring is a complex, virtual educational world that can impart the required knowledge and skills more effectively and directly than a human teacher. In the end there is a prize for the best. Everyone wants to win, but Friedrich leads every time. Over the years, students become more and more ambitious because everyone is determined to win. Only Hilda does not change. For the students, the ring is only the most important thing. The first thing you notice with Albrecht: he hits Linda because she doesn't love him. That's why he has to leave school. Others also have to leave school because they are not good enough. The end is imminent and Friedrich will most likely get the award. Gunnar, who doesn't like Friedrich at all, wants the award. Hartung seems very quiet, but has a plan: Gunnar should take Friedrich off. Hartung mixed a drug that will kill Friedrich. After Friedrich is dead, Gunnar takes the prize. But all other students find this unfair. Everyone wants the price and is pounding for it. The fight is interrupted by Fenneke & Flemming because they found Hilda dead. Now the students notice what the ring has made of them ...
