Der Ringer is a German indie pop band from Hamburg.
Act
The band's music shows influences from various genres, including post-punk , noise rock and new wave . The band itself also names trap and cloud rap as influences. In music, text and visual aesthetics there are sometimes dark, futuristic elements that can be assigned to the genres Gothic and Cyberpunk . At the end of January 2017, her debut album Soft Kill was released on the Staatsakt label . This was played on various tours as support from Isolation Berlin , Oracles, Drangsal and Dagobert, among others , as well as on its own tour. In October 2017, the band went on a six-week Southeast and East Asia tour in cooperation with the Goethe Institute. In 2018 keyboardist Jonas Schachtschneider left the band.
reception
The reviews for the debut were mostly positive. Plattentests.de awarded an 8/10 and wrote: "The wrestlers don't make it easy for the listener to judge them, the spectrum should range from 'whisked shit' to messiah comparison." The Musikexpress awarded 4 out of 6 stars and stated: " Ian Curtis would probably have liked Soft Kill , but only on his darkest days." Prettyinnoise.de awarded a 7/10.
