history

In 1973 the magazine "der budoka" was founded. The magazine was initially published as a ten-page DIN A5 booklet with Günter Oesterreich as editor. The booklet was printed by Hermann-Druck in Gummersbach- Dieringhausen . In mid-1975, Ute Wirtz took over the editorial department who had the magazine printed at Luthe-Druck in Cologne . From the March 1977 edition, the editorial team changed to the press attendant of the North Rhine-Westphalian Judo Association, at that time Wilfried Trompetter. In 1981 “the budoka” appeared for the first time in A4 format.

The founding of the “ Umbrella Association for Budotechnics North Rhine-Westphalia eV” in March 1982 was followed by the relocation of the office and the editorial office from Cologne to Duisburg and the change of the publishing house to Duisburger Edel-Druck GmbH.

In April 1986, “der budoka” gave up its independence as an association newspaper for three years and from then on appeared as the regional section West in the Judo Magazinmagazine . The umbrella association for Budotechniken NW eV made a fresh start under the title “the budoka” in August 1989. The specialist organ was published under the direction of the umbrella association with a new layout under the editorship of Erik Gruhn . The magazine has been published in two colors since 2002 and the cover has been in full color since May 2006.

In January 2011, "der budoka" was launched as a martial arts magazine with a new concept. Since then, the magazine has been published in full color and is produced by SET POINT Schiff & Kamp GmbH in Kamp-LIntfort.
