content

Anton Sommer lives withdrawn. He was a successful wrestler at a young age and is now primarily concerned with ships in bottles . When the landlady of his apartment dies unexpectedly, he is pressured by Hiro, a grandson of the deceased, to accompany him to Japan. He wants to attend a sumo school there. Sommer initially resists, but ultimately gives in after Hiro threatens to quit his apartment. It's summer's first trip abroad. It is a journey across the Far East, where summer is always infectious with his Swiss mentality , but has to be amazed to note that his imposing appearance is treated with respect and awe. The two unequal and so different characters rub against each other, grow together and slowly a deep friendship develops between Anton and Hiro. Summer also learns to come to terms with his past, while love strikes him unexpectedly and like a bolt of lightning.
