The modern Man [sic!] Was an experimental, German-speaking band from Hanover at the time of the Neue Deutsche Welle during the early 1980s . Originating from the punk band "The Worst", their records were mainly released on No Fun Records . John Peel was one of the first radio hosts to put on records for this group .

Band history

After the first LP, her singer Ziggy XY (real name: Michael Jarick) quit in order to concentrate fully on his avant-garde project Kosmonautentraum . With his successor Mattus, the more chaotic parts of the music moved into the background. On 8. March 1983 transferred Rockpalast concert of the band from the Zeche in Bochum . Despite press support, the band and their label could not hold their own against the flood of NDW publications and threw in the towel in 1984 . Your guitarist and co-founder EKT (Eckart Kurtz) then played for some time with “Beatklub” before he disappeared like many others in the middle-class professional life. Drummer Claudius Hempelmann, who left the band in 1981, committed suicide on August 18, 1988.

In March 2009 SPV released the double CD Drama, Spiel und Blut ... Das Archiv Part 1 , which includes the EP Umsturz im Kinderzimmer , the album 80 Days at Sea , the mini-albums Disgruntled and New from Hong Kong , Asparagus -Tape as well as some unreleased live tracks. In March 2011 the LP Unmodern was first released on CD with bonus material.
