Deraeocoris schach is a type of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).

features

The bugs are 6 to 7 millimeters long. They have a black basic color. The pronotum is black. Head tag (scutellum) and corium (front region of the wing covers) and the Cuneus (blade leading edge) are orange. The clavus is black. A black band runs across the wing. The black legs have orange or light spots. The first two antennae are somewhat thickened and dark. The two outer sections of the antennae are thin and light in color.

Occurrence

The species is represented in the entire Mediterranean area (North Africa, Spain, southern France, Italy, Greece, Asia Minor, Middle East).

Way of life

The zoophageous bugs predatorily feed on aphids and caterpillars. Deraeocoris schach is considered to be a predator of the caterpillars of the scabiosa pied butterfly ( Euphydryas aurinia ). The species is mainly observed in the months of June and July.
